Availability code attributes
Booking or Availability codes are a useful and easy way to review user's special conditions of (un)availability. Availability codes may include different types of leave/holidays, courses, sickness, or any other special condition you want to assign to a user's availability.
Availability codes may have different attributes depending on their purpose. The attributes that can be set in FireServiceRota are:
1. Available for crewing
Means that users booked with these availability codes are counted towards crewing levels and are considered available.
2. Available to take a duty request
This applies to some leave, resilience or standby codes, or any code that implies that users who are not currently available, could take on a shift if requested through the extra shift request or shift exchange processes.
3. Available to select in absence request process
This relates to the codes that can be selected during an absence request, like Leave, Holiday, Sickness, etc.
4. Applies to all schedules in the service
This applies to users who have multiple memberships across the service and apply a code that affects all his/her schedules. Self-isolation, Maternity/Paternity Leave are a couple of examples of this type of codes.
5. Applies only to existing shifts
This attribute can be assigned to an availability code that can only be applied if a user already has a scheduled shift. For example, applying this attribute to a code that is selected on a booking for a specific period (e.g. 2 weeks) will only be reflected in the shifts the user had assigned (e.g. 6 shifts).
6. Ignore schedule warnings
This can be used to remove all the checks for a code. Example: When a member is unfit to work, a sickness code must be applied no matter if it causes understaffing.
7. Purposes
Decide where the code will be displayed: group rota, contract amendments like an initial balance or carryovers, absence requests, extra work requests, extra shift requests or activity reports.
8. Accrual factor towards contract
This reflects the % of accrued hours/shifts towards contractual fulfilment. This attribute can be applied to some codes that don't count as regular worked hours (e.g. Overtime) or that have a modified accrual factor.
